Halloween Countdown Day 46 - Vincent (1982)

"Vincent Malloy is seven years old
He’s always polite and does what he’s told
For a boy his age, he’s considerate and nice
But he wants to be just like Vincent Price" Vincent Price

Hello again Boils and Ghouls, while a few too many black cats crossed my path yesterday for me to straggle on and put up a post, today I'm getting the worm with a little short called Vincent, done by a fellow you might now called Tim Burton.

In my own rotting opinion, Tim Burton has jumped the shark as of late. The last of his forays into cinema I watched, Dark Shadows, was like if Beetlejuice and Edward Scissorhands had a misshapen baby without any of the charm or fun that made the former and latter cool parents.

This is an example of Burton when he was still on the up and up. Say what you will of Burton, his early work was very creative and just plain fun. There is a pervasive child-like quality surrounding Burton's work when he was at his finest, something that could appeal to kids or adults, and this short is a great example of that. This is a kid who wants to boil his aunt in wax, or turn his dog into a zombie.

Want to get the kiddos into creepy stuff without busting out something like Friday the 13th or that massive Poe compendium you have? This is a great way to do it.

Until next time, stay creepy kiddos!
